SYRIAN CRISIS

Disaster/Crisis:
Ongoing Conflict

Status: ShelterBox has provided aid for over 4,500 families in Syria, Iraqi Kurdistan, Lebanon and Jordan. We continue to work in the region aiming to assist a further 5,000 families in need

After more than two years of conflict, over 2 million refugees have fled Syria and over 4 million people remain displaced within the country. Most have lost everything, leaving their homes with just the few possessions they can carry. The need now is greater than ever.

Half of the Syrian refugee population are children, like 12-year old Ahmed.

Recently, thousands of Syrian families crossed a new pontoon bridge over the Tigris River at {eshkhabour border point from Syria to Duhok province, Iraqi Kurdistan. ShelterBox Response Team member, Hunter Tanous, recounts the stories of Qadria and Tariq, displaced Syrians living at Krwigorsk refugee camp near the capital Irbil.
