November 11, 2025: The Rotary Club of West Ottawa is proud to support the Westboro Region Food Bank, a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to reducing food insecurity in our community. Serving hundreds of local families each month, the Food Bank provides not only essential groceries but also compassion, dignity, and hope to those in need.

This fall, RCWO member Larry Chop presented the Westboro Region Food Bank with a $2,000 donation to assist with asbestos mitigation in their facility—an important step in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for both volunteers and clients.

Our club’s contribution reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to supporting community health, safety, and resilience. We extend our gratitude to the volunteers and donors who make the Food Bank’s vital work possible, embodying Rotary’s spirit of Service Above Self every day.

We received a beautiful letter from the Food Bank's Supervisor - Rev. Chung Yan Lam - in which she highlighted the meaningful partnership that we have developed with the Food Bank and its hosts:

Dear Rotary Club of West Ottawa,

I’m writing to you today on behalf of

•the neighbours who benefit from the services of Westboro Region Food Bank,
•over forty volunteers who are committed to work the fast-paced forty-plus hours weeklyschedule,
•the Ottawa Food Bank with whom we participate as a community partner,
•and the members of All Saints Westboro Anglican Church and First United Church who are the proud host and management of the Food Bank and its functions.

First and foremost, we are so very grateful for the number of ways The Rotate Club of West Ottawa has engaged our faith community, including the food bank. Earlier in the year, Martine had the opportunity to share with you her insights and experience working at the front lines to address food insecurity. Next, a much needed gift from the Rotary Club gave way to improving the work space of the food bank, making the distribution of food items safer for our volunteers and staff. Finally, the installation of the Peace Pole which will be the symbol to remember our call to build peace with all whom we encounter and to honour and celebrate the community partnerships that have come about with walking together in meaningful ways. Thank you again for reaching out to the Westboro Region Food Bank with your gift and friendship. We are proud to be a partner with The Rotary Club of West Ottawa.

With warm regards,
Rev. Chung Yan Lam
