October 23, 2026: The 2026 “Mums for Thanksgiving” fundraising campaign is officially completed!
A huge thank you to the Mums Campaign co-chairs Larry Chop and Rocco Disipio for their continued leadership. And to the hard work of the committee members Linda Roehrl, Dave Morton, Brett Brooking, Brian Waters, Anna Jasiak and Donald Butler. These committee members spent countless hours over the summer months to ensure a productive campaign. It was in fact a huge success!!
Let’s break this all down. The work involved commenced with the sale and tracking of plant orders, all managed through a detailed database. Thousands of delivery slips were created and sorted according to hundreds of delivery routes. Delivery route volunteers were assigned and deliveries were conducted over a number of days in early October.
The fine print? A total of 4352 plants were ordered and delivered by Meyers Farms from Niagara on the Lake. A smooth and efficient unloading of plants was coordinated by Rocco Disipio along with Rotary family and friends volunteers. For yet another year, Bells Corners United Church permitted us to use their facilities for this event. There were a total of 124 delivery routes all across the city of Ottawa, 17 bulk orders and 259 individual mums picked up for self-delivery. It was a busy and fast paced process from start to finish!
All this hard work paid off once again with a net amount of over $60,000.00 raised by the 2026 campaign, which will support Rotary National and Rotary International charitable causes. Of course, none of this would be possible without the many, many people who contributed in different ways. Thank you to those who purchase our mums, our volunteer delivery drivers, the organizations who sell our flowers, and the club members who bring their enthusiasm and dedication year after year. We're looking forward to next year already!
